Posters

(Drafted Poster no.1)

This is a rough draft of our first poster idea, We decided that the main features of the poster should deffinatley be the image of the artist and the title of the album alongside the bands name in order to increase recognition of the band and to sell the band more than the song, that is the reason the bands name is the biggest feature upon the poster. We decided to feature the artist on the poster in a long shot with a guitar to highlight the bands love for music and to empahsise the genre, as we know if this was the rnb genre, the audience wouldn't see someone with a guitar, as the indie genre is more about just the music and raw talent, which is what our poster is highlighting by sticking to a simple and bold design.

Alongside these features we have also included the bands website for extra advertisment and the name of the 'hot single'' that will be included in the album. Reaching out to the bands fans and telling them that this album is a treat as well as making the band seem recognised by people who know the song but not much about the band themselves, attaracting new listeners and customers.

(Drafted Poster no.2)In This draft we have gone for a similar appraoch but have centered the image of the artist because it draws attention to him and attracts fans, especially girls who look upto this artist and follow his music and life. Using the singer as the image on the poster makes the band recognisable by the singer, as one face is much more easy to identify and relate with than a whole band, it also leaves some mystery about the band, making fans want to find out more. Also unlike draft 1, the title is in a informal font, almost childish and it makes the music and the band seem fun as well as using marketing purposes to simply make the poster and album look attractive and eye catching among other possibilities. Like draft 1, we decided to use a dark background to make the title stand out as well as the image of the singer., it also conforms to the indie genre conventions by being raw, edgy and gritty, rather than featuring a bright while background, dark colours make the band seem more deep and emotional, making them appealing to listeners.

(Drafted Poster no.3)
Mainly anything different about this poster than the other drafts we have tried out is that everything has been blown up to appear bigger, bolder and stand out more, the image has increased with width and so has the title, to fill the space more and for marketing reasons, to advertise bigger, to give the impression that the band will be huge as well as simply for catching attention.

(Drafted Poster no.4)This draft has a whole new approach to advertising because instead of a long shot of the singer in the band, the artist's face is blown up in a huge size but faded to look mysterious but to also let us inside his mind, as the ''hit song'' on the album is purely based on his thoughts and feelings. We've moved the title down under his face to label him and make the artist look recognisable, a symbol of the band. The date of release is in a bigger size in order to inform and persuade to buy, as capital letters in a big font tend to look exciting, which ensures listeners and fans that this is a big event and you'll be misssing out if you do not purchase the album.

(Drafted Poster no.5)
We tried inserting one of our professional images onto a draft design in order to get an idea of what the final result would look like with a photograph upon it. We liked this design because the photograph looks professional and high quality as well as the title appearing and striking and emphasises to fame of the band. The simple and sharp design of the poster looks high quality and appealing because it is not full of different images and colours and manages to obtain the aim of advertising the band and their album release. On this draft we also featured the music label that the band are signed to, in order to advertise the music label as well as making the band seem professional and good quality. This persuades people to listen and maybe purchase.

Here is our final poster design, it was produced on Photo-shop and we decided to base the design on our last draft design, design number 5. We liked this design because we thought it looked the most bold and bright but also professional and high quality. We put the band's name as the main focus as well as the artist who sings in the band for the audience to identify with the band and be sure of who the lead singer is, causing a fan base for the band due to female gaze and the familiarity with the band's name. Important facts are also on the poster in large, the date their album is out, the music label they are signed to and the album's name. We featured an image that is linked to the music video so that fans and audiences who have seen the video can relate to this poster and find connection with the lead singer. We also placed him in the middle to outline him as the main subject and make a clear connection with the band and the male featured in the design. it also reveals that his songs, performed by the band are a sort of document about their life.

In terms of overall structure and presentation, the black is a very plan colour, closely linked to the indie genre, as the indie music is all about the music and this layout presents the band as very straight forward and masculine also, with lack of bright colours, this also causes mystery as it does not reveal much about the band and creates interest with the band also. We chose white to contrast with the black and give the design a professional finish and remain masculine and less colourful as we thought too much colour could reveal the band as a pop band rather than indie which would contradict and challenge the indie conventions. The font and design is closely linked to the overall design of the digipak and this makes our music video and overall products recognizable as our audience can identify with our products straight away, recognizing certain features such as the artists face and traditional layout with the band. in small text we've also featured a website to create a fan base for the band but also give them a modern twist with media convergence, allowing them to seem recent and young, as al ot of their fans will be teenagers who spend a lot of time on the internet and following music.
